Welcome to Nesting with the Nelsons!
I am a twenty-something wife currently living in Seattle, WA with my Canadian husband, James, and two adorable kitties, Scout and Sugar (aka ‘Sugar-Booger’ or ‘Boogie’).
In my short time on this planet, I have explored many passions, holding former positions as a social service worker, marketing account manager and neuromarketing research assistant while in University. I’ve also taken to web design, cooking and now, blogging.
My husband James is much more established, banking 10 years in the field of Java programming and web application engineering. He works remotely from home and likes talking politics, philosophy and open source over at his website, We The Internet.
James and I share mutual appreciation for a beach by the mountains, a warm cup of coffee and a good game of poker. I sneak avocado into his diet and he sneaks maple bacon into mine. At least one night per week, you can find us streaming Downton Abbey with a cup of tea; I get my soul crushed by British drama while he wages war on Clash of Clans on the couch beside me.
I have to thank Facebook, Carl Sagan and dubstep for my marriage. Read more about our dating days and Five-Day Engagement here.
Our cats have very distinct personalities and bring the entertainment to our family. Sugar plays video games, specifically an MMORPG, Mabinogi, and a cell phone based game, Meow Meow Star Acres. Scout is very vocal and can often be found sleeping atop the ongoing clothing donation box. Both are completely betwixt by the toilet, watch anime if or when it is on and chirp at falling snowflakes whenever they blow around by the glass door. If you ever visit us, be prepared to leave covered in hair. They really enjoy visitors.
In our current chapter, James and I recently moved from our Canadian newlywed haven and are currently setting up our little nerdy nest in the states. This blog chronicles my thoughts, musings and adventures in partnership and pre-parent prep days, with my husband and two kitty-babes in tow.
